THANKSGIVING & BLACK FRIDAY

I know I haven't been great writing in my blog, but in ode of Thanksgiving weekend, I would like to do a recap on what Thanksgiving and Black Friday means to me. I am so grateful I was able to have a really big Thanksgiving this year. Usually, this holiday consists of my parents and I; though I enjoy their company, there was always a part of me that wanted a big celebration of one of the most important holidays.

This year, my godmother's birthday also fell on this holiday which made it an extra big celebration. My family which consists of mainly my mom's friends came over along with my auntie and her husband. We definitely had a smorgasbord of food, at least 20 dishes, not including dessert!

I wanted to take this time to say what I'm thankful for. 2011 has definitely been a crazy year with feeling the lowest of lows, to the highest of highs. Though I was negative for the first part of the year, my perseverance along with the support of my friends and especially my family has helped me overcome so many adversities. Not only did I get my first official job out of college, but I currently have a job I enjoy in the industry I want to be in. I am truly blessed in that sector. I feel I have become closer to parents who have been with me through everything and always believed in me. For my friends who have never judged me and who have made the consistent effort to be in my life as I have in theirs. I truly value true friendships like that.

Then comes Black Friday, to some people it's own holiday. I actually went to the Cabazon outlet because I needed to do some shopping, but in actuality the sales weren't that great. Of course there were long lines for the high end stores likes Gucci, Burberry, Prada, and Tory Burch. Crazy thing was even though there were supposed to be great sales going on, there wasn't anything special compared to what I'm used to seeing when I go there. Best deal I saw was at the Gucci store where a pair of sneakers were on sale for $50! But they didn't have my size! Only 9! :( And at Fossil which were advertising 25% off watches on sale. My mom, tita, and godmother all got Burberry watches for $70! Super cheap!

Seeing people shop with an insane number of bags had me wondering, is Black Friday about finding gifts for others or ourselves! I confess, I bought a jacket for myself, and the others I was with bought stuff for themselves, so I don't know. For example, turning the tables around, there was this woman who had been shopping since 11PM Thanksgiving Day. The time was about 11AM and she had BAGSonBAGSonBAGSonBAGS. I remember her saying how everything she bought was totally worth it and that the Prada bags which were great prices ranging from $700-$800.

As the Holiday season is officially here, I would like to have some things to say to end 2011 on a great note.

1) Spend quality time with your family, especially parents. I feel as I've gotten older my relationship with them has definitely taken another level, where not only do I respect them but I truly want to spend time with them.

2) Find out who your true friends are. This year has definitely been a test for my friendships and through it out I've been able to scout the phonies and fakes. I believe the certain instances that occurred this year, showed some of my friends' true colors which made me realize I should reevaluate who I have in my circle. There's no better way to start off the New Year than with real friends.

3) Treat yourself! If you work hard, why not treat yourself to some goodies whether it be a trip to the spa, a shopping spree, or a little getaway.

You Just Do You, Imma Do Me
