ACADEMY AWARDS 2012 RECAP!

The biggest awards show took place last night at the Nokia Theatre featuring the biggest movies being recognized for outstanding achievement in the film world. Billy Crystal hosted the ceremony for the ninth time. I honestly have to say that I enjoyed watching the Oscars more than the Grammys, even though I hardly watched any of the films!

There were two best moments of the night for me. One was when Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for The Help, seeing her breakdown upon accepting her award brought tears to my eyes! Also when Meryl Streep won for Best Actress in The Iron Lady. After being nominated for so many times, she finally won her third Oscar. Seeing her officially be recognized for her achievements as an actress for all these years was truly heartwarming, she is such a beautiful woman.

If you missed the show last night, here are a list of the winners and the contenders in every category: http://oscar.go.com/nominees

Who can forget the best dressed of the night?! A trend on the red carpet were the fair colors such as whites, creams, and silvers.

Octavia Spencer looked lovely in a silver sparkly Tadashi Shoji gown.

Viola Davis looked so perfect in an emerald green Vera Wang gown.

Maya Rudolph looked amazing in Johanna Johnson, I love this gown so much!

Emma Stone looked like an Oscar, but red of course in a bow necked Giambattista Valli dress.

Angelina Jolie definitely looked beautiful on the red carpet in a black Versace gown with a high slit, BUT her right leg thrusting out of every picture was not too cute...really, every picture though?

Rooney Mara is just a naturally stunning looking person. She looked so beautiful in a white Givenchy gown straight off the runway.

Jennifer Lopez was my BEST DRESSED OF THE NIGHT! She looked so stunning in this Zuhair Murad gown that fit her body so perfectly and showed off her glow so well.

I love how the creams and whites are making their way onto the red carpet, not only is it fresh but it's just perfect for Spring which is awaiting!

RIHANNA & CHRIS BROWN REUNITE ONCE AGAIN!

So Rihanna's birthday was two days ago on the 20th and did she cause a stir. Her and Chris Brown released not one, but two remixes of their tracks. Check them out here:

BIRTHDAY CAKE [REMIX]

TURN UP THE MUSIC [REMIX]

Now as you already know, I'm not a big fan of Chris Brown at all after he hit Rihanna about three years ago. But as of late, both of them seemed to have make amends. Slowly but surely, she took off the restraining order she had against Chris Brown, then both were seen getting together, tweeting to each other, then BOOM IN ALL OUR FACES! I honestly like the Birthday Cake song though, it's a SMASH HIT! They playin' us 'yall!!!

BLUE IVY SPOOF ON SNL

Has you seen this spoof on SNL yet? If not you should definitely check it out, it's hilarious. Though some of the spoofs aren't necessarily look alikes, their voices are spot on such as Jay-Z's!

See appearances by Beyonce and Jay-Z of course, Prince, LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Bon Ivar. I know Bon Ivar won the Grammy for Best New Artist, but everyone has been saying how Justin Timberlake was spot on. Who do you think had the best celebrity impression? Watch it!

CHRIS BROWN POLICE REPORT RELEASED

So yesterday, the excruciating detailed report of Chris Brown beating up ex-girlfriend Rihanna went public. You can read it here: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1606481/chris-brown-police-report-provides-details-altercation.jhtml

Yes, Chris Brown just won a Grammy this past weekend and I can see why the media wants to exploit him once again. And I seriously have no problem with that, because I feel no one should forget what happened that night. Yes, Chris Brown is talented, but he's a woman beater! How can you still like someone after that? I don't know about you, but that's just me.

After reading that report, I seriously felt sick to my stomach. It was definitely worse than I had imagined. I mean ladies, just put yourself in her shoes! I honestly don't know why she's still talking to him, I have cut off people for WAY WAY LESS! I feel this matter is about respectful who we are as individuals and seeing our worth. Why would anyone want to possibly go back to someone or be with someone like that with such a violent past? Say what you want, but that is not okay with me, and I'm sticking to it.

GRAMMYS 2012 RECAP

The Grammy's were this past Sunday, and there was an eerie buzz surrounding the awards ceremony which immediately followed the tragic death of icon Whitney Houston. But the show must go on, and it did. LL Cool J hosted the event and right off the bat addressed the elephant in the room by mentioning Whitney Houston's passing and saying a prayer for her.

The Grammy's this year for me were pretty boring, I didn't even know who was nominated or who were performing really. From watching the extra long broadcast which was like 3 1/2 hours, Adele definitely stole the show. She won like all the awards in every category she was nominated in and her performance was flawless, even after her vocal surgery. Jennifer Hudson also sang a tribute to Whitney Houston, which was very emotional for everyone watching. For the entire list of winners, check this link: http://www.grammy.com/nominees

Now it's time to highlight the best dressed of the night:

ADELE looked beautiful in a black sparkling Armani dress. Having her hair down for once really brought attention to her pretty face.

TAYLOR SWIFT looked amazing in a gold silk mermaid gown by Zuhair Murad, I loved the higher collar.

GWYNETH PALTROW looked so sleek in a black Stella McCartney gown. The hair slicked back definitely made this outfit look so put together.

ALICIA KEYS showed off those crazy curves in a black Alexandre Vauthier dress accented with gold jewelry.

MIRANDA LAMBERT looks pretty in a Pavoni nude evening gown that perfectly matched her golden aura.

RIHANNA looked sizzling in a custom black Giorgio Armani gown with plunging neckline and high slit. She has the perfect amount of sex appeal in this outfit without making it look overdone, MY BEST DRESSED FOR THE NIGHT!

BLUE IVY CARTER PHOTOS RELEASED!

On Friday, photos of Blue Ivy Carter were released on Jay-Z's website. Everyone was dying to see the pictures of the baby icon from the day Beyonce and Jay-Z confirmed they were expecting. Big bucks from every news outlet wanted the royalties of being the first publication to share the pictures with the world, but they definitely did it a different way. Beyonce never imagined selling pictures of her baby for money, so that's why they decided to carefully post the pictures of Blue Ivy Carter on Jay-Z's website.

She looks like a mix of both parents, the top half of her face definitely looks like Beyonce, and the bottom half is possibly Jay-z. We'll see how beautiful Blue Ivy Carter is while she matures, but she's definitely a star!

BOBBI KRISTINA BROWN RUSHED TO HOSPITAL!

Soon after the untimely death of the icon Whitney Houston, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown was rushed to the hospital twice within 24 hours, Saturday night and Sunday morning.

According to Radar Online, 18 year old Bobbi Kristina had a few drinks in her system before those in her mom's entourage gave her a sedative that made her knock out soon afterward. Upon hearing the tragic news, she was taken to the hospital for a stress-induced panic attack.

Father Bobby Brown cancelled his concert appearance with New Edition to be beside his daughter in Los Angeles. In a statement he said, "Obviously, the death of her mother is affecting her...However, we will get through this tragedy as a family...My daughter did visit with doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles...She has been released and is presently with my family, including her siblings.”

I want to take this moment to extend my prayers to Whitney Houston's family, especially Bobbi Kristina since she was very close to her mother. Let's pray and hope that she doesn't follow in the footsteps of substance abuse that has plagued her family, and that she overcomes this tragedy in a positive light.

WHITNEY HOUSTON SHOCKING DEATH!

So while I was getting ready to attend a Pre-Grammy event at Hemingway's, I heard the news from a friend that Whitney Houston passed away. At that moment on the radio, one of her songs were playing which was deja vu in a way. I didn't get to find out much details since I was in a hurry, but I just know that the news impacted everyone...fast!

Whitney Houston was discovered unconscious in the bathtub at her Beverly Hilton hotel room. For Grammy weekend festivities, she was supposed to attend Clive Davis' big pre-Grammy party that was also at the Beverly Hilton hotel, 4 floors under her room. She was also working with singers Monica and Brandy on their performance for the Grammy's. Everyone said she looked tired and disheveled. Whitney was currently on the prescription drug Xanax that causes drowsiness, amongst others. Mixed with alcohol, both can have serious effects. She was found in the bathrub, unconscious, until paramedics declared she was dead.

The shocking news went viral fast! No one expected this to happen to the beloved Whitney Houston. Making a splash in the 80's, she was a straight hit amongst the masses. Not only did she have raw talent, one of the best voices in music history, but she was beautiful. The type of beauty that was a great mix of sex appeal and gorgeousness. It is said that her marriage to bad boy Bobby Brown was one of the biggest mistake she could've made personally and career wise. Many have seemed to blame the constant drug abuse to his ways, spiraling her life out of control. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown were always on the tabloids for their drug abuses, which made people wonder what happened to America's Sweetheart.

With the sad news that broke headlines yesterday afternoon, it shows how fast life can come and pass us by. Whitney Houston was such a beautiful woman with great talent that many stars today looked up to. The world definitely lost a star, but her music and inspiration will live on forever. Rest in peace Whitney Houston!

REGENERATION MUSIC PROJECT HOLLYWOOD PREMIERE

Working for such a cool media company such as I do comes with a lot of perks. One is having the opportunity to attend movie premieres! Last night, I went to the Re:Generation Music Project World Premiere at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood. It was super official! There was a big red carpet, flashing lights lights lights everywhere!

Before entering the building, I saw Simon Rex! He is a hottie! The music documentary is about how 5 world renown DJ's who recreate five different styles of music. In association with the Grammy's, DJ Premier, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, and The Crystal Method were each given 5 styles of music into which they had to remix and come with a sound all their own. DJ Premier had classical, Mark Ronson had Jazz, Skrillex had Rock, Pretty Lights had country, and The Crystal Method had R&B.

Not really knowing these artists beforehand, I came to respect so many of them as artists who can take a sound and make it their own. All of their creative processes were amazing, and their individual personalities definitely made me like them on a personal level. After the film was a Q&A session with the DJ's with KCRW's Jason Bentley. Hearing his voice and seeing him in person was a surreal experience. I was very star struck with Mark Ronson who was looking pretty dapper, and Pretty Lights (aka Derek) was very tall!

Check out the trailer:

And download songs from the soundtrack for free: http://www.regenerationmusicproject.com/music/

Such perfect timing with the Grammy's coming up this weekend. This film is being shown for two days only in select theaters around the U.S. February 16th and 23rd! Get your tickets now! http://www.regenerationmusicproject.com/#section6

SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW 2012 RECAP!

First off, let me give a little shout out to the NY GIANTS!!! Growing up, I was "raised" to be against any team from the Boston area, and yes that includes the New England Patriots. And if you may ask, I am still totally against Tom Brady for leaving his ex-pregnant-wife for the ultimate supermodel Giselle Bundchen.

Now back to the relevant topic, the Super Bowl Halftime Show! So there was much anticipation with Madonna headlining the most watched halftime entertainment show, averaging 111.3 million views. But this year broke records, with 114 million people tuning in.

Madonna came out in Roman gear singing her old school hit "Vogue", then transitioned to her dance hit "Music". Then came the numerous guest appearances which definitely made the show for me. LMFAO was on was a good minute, and you know how much I LOVE THEM! Then Madonna sang her new single "Gimme All Your Love" with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and closing the show with "Like a Prayer" with Cee-Lo Green.

Though I give props to Madonna for doing a good job performing, I felt the lip-syching was too fake! I'm pretty disappointed that LMFAO only got a minute of camera time, and M.I.A. who I also LOVE is now getting a bad rep for her obscurities! Recently releasing her "Bad Girls" video which is absolutely amazing and addicting to watch, she had definitely burst back on the music scene, but now she's getting such bad publicity. "Supposedly", M.I.A. flipped off the camera and said "I don't give a shit", which I did not notice at all. Not instead of Madonna becoming the memorable part of the halftime performance, it's now M.I.A.'s expletive gesture.

What I felt stole the show was the amazing stage presentation from the Moment Factory, everything was definitely on point and made the entire performance come together beautifully from a visual point of view. Check out the Super Bowl Halftime Show for yourself!

M.I.A.'S NEW VIDEO "BAD GIRLS"

I guess it's safe to say that M.I.A. is not longer M.I.A....(okay I didn't think of that line myself, I credit it to my friend Isaac Park).

But when I saw the headlines for this, I was beyond excited! I totally love MIA, I've been following her for awhile now. I used to watch her videos on MTV2 all the time way back when. Her style, songs, and videos intrigued me so much. She seemed to have disappeared after her big collaboration with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and T.I. "Swagger Like Us", when she performed at the VMA's very pregnant.

From that time, I'm guessing she settled down for a bit spending time with family and working on her music with all the cool videos like this one that accompany it. All I have to say is M.I.A. is back, better than ever!

"LIVE FAST, DIE YOUNG, BAD GIRLS DO IT WELL!"
