STAY HEALTHY WITHOUT OVERSPENDING

When we think about healthy food, we think of organic food that is pretty pricey. That's why most of the time we opt for unhealthy fast food and sweets because it's not only convenient, but cheap. But here are some tips that will not only keep you staying healthy, but won't empty out your pockets.

1) Instead of having to buy fresh berries daily, substitute frozen berries, which are frozen at their peak, instead. Not only do they cost less, but they still taste delicious and you don't have to eat them right away!

2) Though oatmeal already seems like a cheap and healthy option, try quick oats instead. It's actually more cost effective and doesn't contain the added calories and sugars.

3) We already know potato chips are a big no-no and though vegetable chips seems like a good alternative solution, how about another choice? Try homemade kale chips! Not only can you make them at home, but it's less than 50 calories a cup. Not to mention a fraction of the cost of store bought chips.

4) Who can say no to fresh seafood, especially some salmon?! I like mine grilled with some lemon seasoning please!!! But since that can be pricey and not always convenient to get, opt for canned salmon instead! Not only is it less expensive, but it contains the same omega-3s. Just think of all the options you can do with canned salmon!

5) Whey protein powder used for smoothies can be a bit costly. Try cheaper tofu that gives you the exact same nutrients and goes well with smoothies!

6) Though Larabars are yummy, one thing for certain is that they are not cheap. Stick to dried fruit that can satisfy that sweet tooth and are cheaper!

7) It's okay to buy bruised produce because it doesn't mean that they're bad! Don't discriminate against produce! They taste the same as the "healthy" produce and you can always peel and freeze them to make shakes and smoothies.

8) Look at what you already have stocked up in your fridge, freezer, or pantry. You can find some fresh or leftover products that turn out great together, there's no harm in experimenting!

9) Plan meals on a weekly basis so you can keep track of what you're eating. This way you don't have to make unnecessary purchases while at a grocery store.

10) In regards to planning meals, try looking at your schedule so you can be prepared for any unschedules events that pop up throughout the day or week.

11) Lastly there are products that are just too good to be frugal about. It's okay to splurge a bit on Greek yogurt and almond butter, yummayyyy!!!

Eating healthy has it's perks, but it doesn't mean you have to spend all your money on that. At least there are alternatives!!! Thank goodness we have options in life, now keep that healthy mind set going!
