IT'S OFFICIAL: ASHTON KUTCHER TAKES OVER "TWO AND A HALF MEN"
It became official yesterday that Ashton Kutcher will be replacing Charlie Sheen on the hit sitcom TWO AND A HALF MEN. There was much controversy surrounding this issue due to Charlie Sheen publicly calling out network execs during his stints in and out of rehab. After the execs decided that the eighth season of Two and a Half Men would be over, the question was if the show would continue with or without their main star Charlie Sheen.
Though word out was that Charlie Sheen was going to go back on the show, other gossip hinted that they might hire another star to take his place instead, or even go on without any new star by just focusing on Jon Cryer's character. But now that the decision has been to hire Ashton Kutcher for the already popular sitcom, the new question arises if the show will be as popular as it once was with Charlie Sheen at the forefront.
On being the new cast mate of the show, Ashton Kutcher explains, "I can't wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers' homes. I can't replace Charlie Sheen but I'm going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people!" Kutcher will reportedly be making a fraction of Sheen's $1.25 million-an-episode paycheck, in the range of $625,000 and $900,000.
In response to the hiring of Kutcher, Charlie Sheen says, "Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer...Oh wait, so am I! Enjoy the show, America. Enjoy seeing a 2.0 in the demo ever Monday, WB. Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton. There is no air, laughter, loyalty or love there." Once again another blow to creator Chuck Lorre.
Shooting for the ninth season of TWO AND A HALF MEN will begin this summer. So now viewers just have to stay tuned in and see if the show can keep it's popularity.
